I'm not sure if this just displays the contents of a nearby smart phone or tablet, but, it's a neat trick anyways. They are still working on the prototype. You can check out the video on their website: Circret
Over the weekend I spent a couple hours researching Mind Mapping software for Windows, iPad and Android. I found a number of free programs to experiment with.
Basically, you can freely organize your thoughts on a project, a book, your To Do list and other type of information.
Starting with MindScape on iOS, users are able to add a topic then tap on it to pull up an empty page to fill out more details on that topic or add any number of subtopics. Resizing and moving around the topics is very easy.
On Windows, FreePlane allows for much more customization of items on a Mind Map and exporting to different programs.
The bigger question is "how many of us think in these terms and really like the visual style of these lists?" I tried a couple of applications on Android also, but, the bubbles or topics were very small and can quickly use up more than one screen so you have to scroll around to see the main map page.
For applications that support multiple platforms try one of the following:
XMind or Mind Meister. These will give you demos to let you see if Mind Mapping software is beneficial to you.
If not, there's always a lot of ToDo list programs from simple to powerful like
Remember the Milk Wunderlist Todoist
ToodleDo Google Tasks
I recently found an older article about comparing the user experience on a 2007 Windows desktop with an old 1986 Macintosh Plus. Even though the newer computer has a 1,000 times faster process, has 250 times the RAM memory and 3,000 times the hard disk storage, the end result of the user experience with programs like Word and Excel was better on the old Macintosh.
